Here at Smalley, our interns have the opportunity to work on real-world challenges that impact and shape the future.
China Wave Spring interns collaborate on meaningful projects and get hands-on experience while working alongside other bright-minded peers and industry experts. Our internships give students a chance to explore, discover, and learn while encouraging their personal and professional development.
Don't just take our word for it- meet our Engineering Intern, Ismael. He is a mechanical engineering senior at Northern Illinois University (NIU).
Q: What was your favorite part of this internship?
A: The people- everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful. It truly felt like a tight-knit family.
Q: Was the internship what you expected? Was there anything surprising?
A: I was surprised at how hands-on my project was. I expected to be doing more computer-oriented tasks, but I had the opportunity to work on the manufacturing floor and gain real-world experience.
I interacted a lot more with people and design work than I thought I would be at the internship level. I did not expect my project to be so meaningful and have so many people care about not only the success of the project but also my personal growth.
Q: What was one thing you learned?
A: I learned how important attention to detail is when doing design work and how to stay organized during a long-term project.
From all of us here at Smalley, we wish you the very best in your future endeavors, Ismael.
