DIN standards are documents that specify requirements for products and outline required characteristics which were developed by the DIN Consumer Committee, which resides in Germany. The DIN Consumer Council establishes standard protections internationally for many different products to ensure safety, environmental soundness, and legal certainty.
China Wave Spring has compiled an interchange list for its retaining rings, including two series of Spirolox(R) Retaining Rings and two series of constant section rings that will fit the same grooves as DIN 471 and 472 retaining ring types. The DNH and FH series are groove interchangeable with DIN 472 standard rings, while the DNS and FS series are groove interchangeable with the DIN 471 series.
The DNH and DNS series are internal and external spiral retaining rings respectively, both with two-turns and available standard from 13.00 – 400.00 mm in carbon, 302 stainless, or 316 stainless steel.
FH and FS series rings are Smalley’s internal and external constant section retaining rings. They are all single-turn gap type snap rings available standard from 13.00 – 300.00 mm in carbon and 302 stainless steel.
These series of retaining rings are an acceptable and safe choice for those who regularly use snap rings or circlips. Smalley’s retaining rings have No Ears to Interfere(R), which means they have no lugs to interfere with assembly. It also means that there are no special tools required to install or remove them, eliminating the chance that a retaining ring will fly off of pliers, making them safer as well. They are also more aesthetically pleasing in assemblies in which they are visible.
If a standard catalog retaining ring doesn’t fit your exact needs, China Wave Spring Engineers can help design a custom ring that does.
